Self Defense Starts with BASE
BASE – Be Aware Safe Exit. Scott Lewis delivered high energy, high passion, and a high level of training at our self defense course last weekend. I hope you’ve heard the chatter about the workshop, and we are looking forward to the next one. If you haven’t heard it in person here is what a few of the ladies who attended had to say afterward.
“Just a note to thank you for organizing last Saturday’s Self Defense course and to tell you how much I enjoyed it. My daughter, Lindsay, joined me for the morning and we both felt we learned allot and left the session with new skills.
Scott did a great job of packing a lot of information and common sense skills into the 2-hours. His hands on approach added to the learning experience.
A couple key take-aways included learning and practicing evasive tactics that would become second nature in an attack situation, as well as being aware of your surroundings and avoiding potentially precarious situations. His comment about projecting an air of confidence made sense, as well.
I hope you can offer the class again, for those that couldn’t make it – it was time well spent!
Thank you, again!” – Jane
“I was entirely impressed with Scott’s Self Defense Workshop ~ on many many levels. His common sense approach resonated with me thru out the entire 2 hours – ranging from ‘prevention’ (don’t put yourself in a questionable environment or situation to begin with, walk with confidence), the goal is to escape (don’t think you can out muscle an opponent who is much larger & stronger than you, your #1 goal is to get away), techniques needed to defend yourself (how to get up off the ground into a ‘base’ stance, using leverage to your advantage, how to protect your face, how to pull away & more), and finally the most surprising aspect shared with us was the need for compassion (the attacker has probably been attacked and is dealing with significant issues).
I only wish I had brought members of my family and friends to the work shop!” – Donna
“I was a little apprehensive about taking the self defense not knowing what it was all about.
Right from the time I got there, Scott made you feel at ease and very comfortable. He explained all the different techniques thoroughly. He loved it when you asked questions and made the class fun. I had a great time and learned a lot about how to get out of a bad situation without violence.
For those of us who love to do the Get Ups in training, he showed us a new way to ‘get up’ and get away. I am sure Nancy will give you a demonstration so that we can practice. Thanks Nancy for doing the class it was worth it.” – Janet
