You Just Never Know

Paula is 2years strongIn the middle of March, Paula from the 9am ladies in Epsom, had heart surgery. We all miss her and wish her well. It was wonderful to hear from her last week. She wasn’t thinking of herself but of you.

Yes, that’s right, she just had major surgery and she is thinking of encouraging you.

Here’s what Paula had to say:

“Thank you for the card, which means I am home, got released last Wed.  Everything went well and now its just the slow road of recovery.  Of which I want to thank you for Get Fit NH’s strong beneficial influence.  You are free to share with other clients, since none of us ever know for sure when and why we might need surgery, but all the little things we do in class which help with balance and strength which might seem minor or insignificant at the time but has shown already to be a major bonus to my healing.  All the nurses from the ICU to the cardiac ward, were very impressed with my immediate balance and control and even my breathing exercises.  You know I never thought that every time you made us get off the floor without using our hands, would be so important to me now that I have to get in and out of the recliner and bed without bearing any weight on my arms, for the next 4 to 6 weeks.

So for all those folks who focus on the stuff that creates the 6packs, they should realize how important everything you teach us comes into play.  Thank you again, and eventually when I get back I may never get to do a true chin up, but at least now my breathing should be able to keep up with my muscle strength, and that will allow me to finally push 100%.  Yeah!!!!!!!!” – Paula

Paula, I have faith that you will make it happen on the chin bar. I can’t wait to see you as soon as your doctor’s give the go ahead. Until then your Get Fit NH family will do whatever you need doing. – Coach Nancy

Adam R’s Success Story

runforthetroopsGot this great message from Adam after he, wife Deb, Coach Meagan and superstars Jen and Becky completed the Run For The Troops this past Sunday.

Keep up the great work Adam, and Thank-You for choosing to train with us!

“This is the best one yet…nothing meaningful is ever gained without sacrifice and hard work! We ran two (2) 5 K races over the weekend and the second race felt better than the first over a more challenging course. A few years ago I would only have dreamed about ever doing this again in my life. Thanks to you and Get Fit NH you have greatly helped me on the road to greater physical awareness and health. Changing lives one life at a time is what you do best and you are truly making this world a better place for all in Concord. Every training day is a new challenge and the finisher is now our reward! The Best Jeans Ever!

Doreen from our 9 AM Ladies crew just sent this text over to me. It made my day!Recovery drinks in hand

“Just wanted to say thank you. I went shopping with my girls and I decided to try on some jeans because my old ones are getting a bit loose. I tried one, the best jeans ever. They were a size 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went from a size 14 to a 10. Thank you for helping me find the best jeans ever.”

She didn’t just tell me because a few minutes later I get an email from Marcy. (If you are in the 9 AM group, these two ladies car pool to keep each other accountable to Get Fit NH.)

Marcy writes: “Thank you for being my motivation! For being there for all my questions and inquiries! You have really changed my life and I thank you for that! I never thought I would stick with a program and here I am 2 years!!!!! By the way, I think I am NOT the lead talker anymore!! Doreen just bought a size 10 jean and is over the top!!! How awesome is that!!!”   (Marcy likes exclamation points – but that is enthusiasm speaking) 🙂

Thank you Doreen and Marcy for choosing to train at Get Fit NH. Keep those enthusiastic stories coming, they inspire us all! – Coach Nancy

Donna M.’s Anniversary Success Story

donnamGet ready for a healthy dose of inspiration!I just had to share this comment that Donna shared on the blog. A real testament to the power of determination and that fact that it is never too late to get started. Love it!

You should check out Donna’s “happy dance” too. Girl’s got the moves! 🙂

“I just reached my 1 year anniversary attending Coach Erin’s fun 4:15 Concord class! I wanted to share my story and hope that this may encourage others who have been ‘on the bench’ thinking about trying the program.

1 year ago, I was out of shape, overweight and frustrated. I had busted up a knee, had surgery and did not recover well. My compromised knee gave out, I fell and broke my ankle.

I cried more from the frustration that day than from the pain.

After ankle surgery to repair a compound fracture, I had a decision to make. At 55, I had a whole lot more life ahead of me, and I did not want to spend it ‘on the bench’.

A friend encouraged me to try Dean and Nancy’s boot camp.  She told me that it was a positive experience for her and said that it was ‘fun’. I tried the 2 week intro and was hooked immediately.

After 12 months, I am no longer ‘on the bench’.  I’ve dropped 32 pounds, feel better than I had in 10 years & can pick up my grandson without hesitation.

Coach Erin has been such a great motivator, encouraging me the entire way. I have met great friends and have gotten stronger than I would have ever imagined. You can do it too…    Thanks Coach Erin, you are the best!” – Donna M

Success Story – Dennis M.

dennisA big shout out to Dennis for his effort and consistency. He rarely misses a training session, and it has really paid off. Here’s what he shared with me one day after training last week.

Hi Dean,

I’m happy to report that after training @ GFNH for several months I’ve lost about 15 lbs. & a few notches in my belt! I’ve had the happy experience of fitting into older pants & getting to buy new jeans as the old ones have too much room 🙂 There’s no doubt that I’ve grown stronger & can actually now see muscles I haven’t seen for a long time.

The encouraging coaching, fun people, great training and focus on nutrition that I’ve found @ GFNH has made a great difference in my overall fitness.

Thanks for all you do,
Dennis

Thank-YOU Dennis for choosing to train with us. Keep up the great work!

Success Story – Karen S.

katesToo often we get caught in the trap that exercise and fitness is all about body composition, or maybe how much we can lift or how far we can run.

And while those things certainly have some value, there are other numbers that can tell us even more about how our body is changing. We received this awesome email from Karen this morning.

“Good Morning Dean,

I had my annual physical yesterday.  Last year my LDL Cholesterol was 190 and my doctor wanted me to go on prescription drugs.  I said NO and that I would try and bring the numbers down by exercise and nutrition. Then I joined Get Fit NH.

Yesterday my LDL Cholesterol was 158.  My doctor wanted to know what I did to bring it down like that.  Unbelievable!!

I would like to thank you for your knowledge and assistance in helping me help myself in bringing down my Cholesterol.  Not only did the numbers come down, I enjoyed doing it.  (most of the time).

She says I still need to bring it down to 130, so there is yet another goal for me to strive for.

Thanks again Dean to you and all your coaches.” – Karen

Karen also shared with me how she is a strong believer that the answers to our health is not found in a pill, and I would agree whole-heartedly. While there may be times medication is required, we have seen many of our clients get off their blood pressure and cholesterol drugs (with their doctors blessing of course) by working hard in the gym and making changes to what they are eating. It can be done and is being done every day.

Keep up the great work Karen!

Success Story – Jennifer H.

jenhGot a brief note from Jennifer this morning, and it made me smile:

“Trying on all your old jeans and having them fit is worth every 4:15 alarm. Thank you from a very happy girl! :)”

I asked her to expand a little on what she thinks about Get Fit NH, and here is her follow up:

“When I arrived at my first Get Fit training session I was nervous and tired  but mostly excited. I knew upon leaving that first early morning, that I had found exactly what I needed. That was 12 weeks ago now.

This morning I tried on my old jeans and they ALL fit! I know it is just one of many goals I will reach now and soon my closet will be seeing sizes it never has before. It has become about so much more than a pant size though. It’s a feeling of overall health that I have never experienced before.   If you are thinking that’s not me, I urge you to see what it’s about. After a very short time I can’t imagine “me” without my Get Fit lifestyle. You too, can make it happen! “ Jennifer H.

You rock Jen, keep up the great work!

Oh, By The Way

hThe fabulous Jenn Mapes and I were chatting today and at the end of the conversation she through in one of those “Oh and by the way” bombs in there.

Here it is:

“I also wanted to say that I don’t step on the scale ever, but I went to the Drs. And I’m down 31 pounds since I started training and changing my food intake.”

Oh, is that all Jenn? 🙂

It’s amazing what happens with some consistency and persistence. Pretty soon all those “little things” really start adding up.

Congratulations and keep up the great work Jenn!
