Don’t Work Your Life Away

I’ve said it 100 times and I’ll continue to shout it from the rooftops…

Strength training is crucial to living your actual best life. Fat loss is an added bonus, but not the sole reason to start! Bonnie shared an incredible story below about her trip to South Africa and Northern Europe. Bonnie is retired and is finally enjoying life and doing the things she waited so long to do! You have to read it for yourself below!

Don’t work your entire life just to retire an unhealthy human. Life is too short and the best years that you’re working so hard to earn are yet to come. Take care of you now so that when you retire you can LIVE!

Unique & Powerful Testimonial

This weekend a client posted a heartfelt testimonial on our private client Facebook page. It was so powerful that I have to share it with you all in hopes that this speaks to someone else who may be feeling a bit lost or hopeless in their fitness journey.

It was too long to screenshot so I am going to write out her words below...

"I do not do this ever, but I also have to add my two cents about this gym. I am a full time caregiver for my husband who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's at an early age.

I joined the gym in March of this year. My goal for the month of August was to get to my the gym three times per week. I unfortunately failed that this week due to primary care and specialist appointments this week, BUT, my results from these appointments were incredible.

My numbers, my ultrasound test and other tests all showed improvement. One specialist even said, "I am not sure what you have been doing, but keep it up" and told me my test result looked so good that I do not need to return for two years. I sit here beyond words. I truly feel that it is the gym, Meagan, Tyler, Dylan and Ashley that have helped me get to this place in my life where my good health is important in order to take care of my husband. And I cannot forget to mention the nice people I have met along the way. Thank you, Yvette"

It is hard to take care of another human. Whether that be a spouse, a parent, a child or another loved one. It is hard. It is hard to find time and energy, but Yvette has done that and she has done it consistently since March. The "little things" all add up to BIG things when you keep going.

Test Your Health in 10 Seconds

New York Times put out a fantastic article last year about balance and how it relates to longevity and health.

When I shared it last year it was very popular and eye opening for many. Our clients were thrilled to pass it with flying colors and it certainly got them thinking about their loved ones a bit more as they weren't sure if their friends and family could pass it.

See, when your fit and healthy, you often take for granted or don't think twice about what you can still do with ease. It's when your health gets away from you where many start to fear things like going on vacations with spontaneous excursions or even getting up and down off of the floor. Don't pair exercise with just fat loss. That is truly a happy side effect of what strength training does for you.

You can read the article here or you can view the highlights here in this quick video I did last year in regards to the article....caution: I was a bit "passionate" and excited about the subject 🙂

Testimonial of a Life Time

Emails like this bring goosebumps to my arms.

There is so much more to a gym than just equipment.

There’s so much more to exercise than losing weight.

Learning to change the narrative you’ve created with your health is hard.

I have yet to meet one single person who is

  • “too far gone”
  • “too broken”
  • “too busy”

To take control. It’s a story we tell ourselves to satisfy the uncomfortable feelings we have around the process.

Thank you for this beautiful testimony. If we can create this feeling for others then we die happy.

If you need help changing the narrative around your health then please take a second to read these words. You are so capable.

Why Are We Pulling Sleds?

We have recently introduced sled pulls in our group training program. You may be wondering where they came from or why we are doing them. Here's a handful of reasons why we like em'

  • It is a simple exercise that anyone can do regardless of their fitness level or expertise. We can scale the intensity individually by adding or taking away plates.
  •  You can load this exercise with a lot of weight with minimal risk of injury to your body. Low risk, high reward. We are not working against gravity so your joints will appreciate that.
  • Great for improving strength and muscle in your legs without the added stress other exercises cause to your knees.
  • Improves aerobic endurance and conditioning

Let’s get those sleds moving! Check out this quick clip with Coach Dylan to learn more.

The Return of the 21 Day Detox

We are pulling this program from way deep in the Get Fit NH archives and putting it back into action! This is a fabulous program to help us  rid our bodies of all the “extras” we have been faced with this summer and hit the reset button. For 21 days we are going focus on whole foods and avoid all alcohol, added sugars, gluten and dairy.

We will use a private Facebook page as our main method of coaching. In that group we will share:

  • Recipes
  • Do’s and Don’ts
  • What you might be feeling
  • Problem solving
  • In a pinch ideas
  • Tips and tricks for planning and prepping

For our non Facebook community, we will send a weekly recap via email to keep you in the loop!

Expected Results:

  • Weight loss is a happy side effect, but not the overall goal of the 21 day detox
  • Improved sleep
  • Improved energy
  • Improved gut health
  • Decrease bloat
  • Increase awareness of sugar intake in common foods
  • Reset
  • Refocus
  • Clear up skin

The purpose of this program is to reset and refocus. This is not designed to be a long term plan. Once you are all signed up you will automatically receive your guide, the private Facebook link and the welcome email.

4 ways we can help you right now

Ever feel like you are in a vicious cycle of trying to grab the reigns on your health?

It can often feel:

  • Frustrating
  • Hopeless
  • Pointless

You often wonder how everyone else has it figured out while you sit there struggling.

I am going to let you in on a secret....no one has it all figured out and those who make it look effortless have two big reasons why...

  • Consistency. They keep showing up even when it feels like results are lagging. They show up even when life gets in the way over and over and over. They find a way. They don't quit when it gets hard.
  • Routine. Because they have been consistent, it has become part of their routine. It's in their calendar. It's in their morning routine. They block the time out and they show up.

There are a few reasons why Get Fit NH clients are successful in their journey toward health and fitness:

  • Accountability. I have yet to meet one single person who does not perform better with accountability.
  • Structure. We take the thinking out of what you should be doing at the gym and put it into a periodized program.
  • Coaching. The obvious one, right? Because when you're not sure where to go, we know where to lead you or at least where to start and how to progress or scale back. A coach will meet you where you're at and take from where you are today to where you're trying to go.

Struggling? So what can you do TODAY?

  • Ask for help! I am always interested in guiding you. Even if you're not a GFNH client and even if GFNH is not the answer for you! My mission is to find a way for you, not sell you.
  • Join us for a two week free trial and see if this is the answer for you!
  • Jump on a consult call and let's chat goals, strategies and organize your life!
  • Sign on for 8 weeks of pure coaching and accountability...even if that means you're training outside of GFNH! We will discuss your goals, your action steps and develop a plan to get you on the road to success

Don't stay in the cycle. You deserve better and you can absolutely do better.
