New Year New Mindset

Forget "New Year, New Me" instead let's aim for "New Year, New Mindset"

The holidays are crazy with one celebration to another. It is easy to get lost in the season and fall out of your routine. Starting January 16th we are rolling out our New Year, New Mindset Challenge. This is a 4-week challenge focused on mini-goals centered around movement, mindset, and nutrition. These daily goals are manageable and sustainable and are proven to help you feel better, feel leaner and feel like a champion. It feels good to hit targets and small daily wins lead to BIG results. It is not a deprivation diet or a high-speed training program designed to run you into the ground.  Each week has a different focus on nutrition and a different focus on movement, which includes, full body, mobility, and mindset!

I'm guessing you have done a deep dive diet once or twice before...those don't work. Let's focus on the whole picture at a speed just right for everyone. We will use a private Facebook group and an app called TrueCoach to deliver daily goals, motivation, and intense coaching.

Here's what you get:

  • Daily accountability notification through our TrueCoach app to tell you your movement challenge for the day and the nutrition focus for the week. You will get a daily notification with the nutrition focus even though it will stay the same the entire week. We will add habits each week.
  • Swap ins and swap outs. There are foods that we eat around the holidays that are not productive for fat loss. We will take those out week by week and replace with nutritious and delicious options.
  • You will get a list of foods to nourish with and foods to avoid for best results.
  • Daily coaching through Facebook AND TrueCoach for those of you who are not on social media. We will use technology to communicate with you. You can use the app to upload before and after pictures, track goals and communicate directly with us.
  • Styku bodyfat scan
  • Community! You will be able to communicate and share ideas with other challengers!
  • Meal plans weekly on Wednesdays. These will be created with the challenge guidelines in mind
  • New habits that CAN stick! No depriving, no calorie counting, just real, sustainable habits that lead to lasting change.
  • All of THAT for $57!

Dates to remember:

  • Sign-ups are open now and they close on Thursday, January 12th
  • Weigh-in and/or Styku Scan due by Friday, January 13th
  • The end of the challenge is Friday, February 10th
  • Final weigh-in and/or Styku Scan is due by Tuesday, February 14th
  • Winners to be announced Wednesday, February 15th

We will have two winners! The person with the greatest body fat percentage loss AND the person with the great body weight percentage lost will win a choice of:

  • One free session of CoolSculpting ($250 value)
  • One free session of Cellulite Cavitation ($200 value)
  • One free session of Electromagnetic Muscle Stimulation ($200 value)
  • One session with Dr. Ross Childs from Fit For Life Physical Therapy ($165 value)
  • One free month of training ($147-$177 value)

Ready for some accountability and a support group to help kickstart your year?

What is coming to Get Fit NH

I have given tons of hints over the last several weeks to see what ya’ll came up with and it has been pretty entertaining to read your guesses! As with anything, some of you will be PUMPED about this while others will not be phased. So without further ado, we are welcoming the following treatments to Get Fit NH...

  • Cool Sculpting/Cryolipolysis (Fat freezing)

  • ElectroMagnetic Muscle Stimulation (EMMS)

  • Cellulite Cavitation

For some of you, I probably just used a lot of big words and you’re thinking, “what the heck are you talking about, woman?”

Let me explain,

  • Cool Sculpting/Cryolipolysis (Fat Freezing): This is a 30-minute treatment that freezes fat cells in a localized area. It is a safe, non-invasive and FDA-approved treatment that kills fat cells for good. Our lymphatic system does the work after the treatment to flush dead fat cells out of our system. I like to call this a results booster. If you are feeling discouraged, because you just can’t seem to lose the belly fat or “muffin top” then this is a science-backed treatment to get you there over the next 12 weeks. This treatment requires 4-6 treatments over a 4-6 week period to maximize results. Peak results will be met by week 12. This treatment is complimented by exercise and nutrition and will not work as a substitute.  This treatment can be done to the abdomen, flanks (“love handles”), chin, bra fat, and arms. This treatment is best for clients who are 40 pounds or less from their ideal weight

  • ElectroMagnetic Muscle Stimulation (EMMS)

EMMS is an FDA-approved fat-eliminating and muscle-building treatment. This 30-minute noninvasive treatment forces muscle contractions in a way that we cannot replicate in the gym. This treatment is best for clients who are within 15 pounds of their ideal weight and/or looking to create a more defined and toned physique. The EMMS stimulates muscle growth and therefore a reduction of fat.  This treatment is complimented by a regimented strength training program and is not a substitute.

  • Cellulite Cavitation

Cellulite is a fat deposit beneath the skin that creates dimpled flesh. The main cause of cellulite is fat cells and liquid that accumulate and become trapped.

The cavitation technology is a 30-minute noninvasive treatment that delivers ultrasound energy (sound waves) to create little micro bubbles beneath the skin. Those microbubbles ultimately rupture and damage fat cell membranes. This allows the lipid contents to flow out of the fat cell which drastically improves the dimples that cellulite creates. I have personally seen noteworthy results after only three 30-minute treatments. We recommend 6 treatments followed by maintenance treatments as needed.

So now you’re waiting for the hard news, right? How much do treatments like this cost?

Well, I am not going to lie to you and say they are cheap, because they are not. But I am going to give you some hope by letting you know that the Get Fit NH price is about $400-$500 per session less than the industry standard and that is for a couple of reasons…

  1. We believe that this is an excellent solution when complimented by strength training and nutrition goals.
  2. You deserve to feel confident in your own skin without spending thousands and thousands of dollars or going underneath the knife

These treatments run between $200-$250 per session. All of these treatments require 4-6 treatments to see optimal results so YES it is an investment, but so are liposuction, tummy tucks, and all those other invasive solutions that require downtime. These are 30 minutes treatments with ZERO downtime.

We are rolling this out slowly and softly so the availability is EXTREMELY limited. We do expect this to take off as there is not a whole lot of competition out there.

This treatment is NOT limited to Get Fit NH clients. We will be going very public with this in 2023. For now, we are rolling this out to our clients and followers with no paid or purposeful marketing.

If you wish to book your first treatment with us then you can do so using the links below.

Bone Density – Who Cares?

Bone density is not the most exciting topic, BUT it is incredibly important to emphasize as we mature.

So why should we care? Let me take the science lingo out of it and put it into practical terms

Well, as we age the likeliness of falling increases dramatically. Falling in your 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s becomes more life-threatening with each decade and even more threatening for a deconditioned body.

*Deconditioning is a complex process of physiological change following a period of inactivity, bed rest, or a sedentary lifestyle. It results in functional losses in such areas as mental status, degree of continence, and ability to accomplish activities of daily living*

So, what are my risks if I fall and I have not done the work to maintain my bone density and muscle mass?

The biggest risk is fracturing bones. Depending on which bone is fractured could have a life-altering effect on daily living. The aftermath of a fall and thus fractured bones often impact other people's lives too, as most will require help or even assisted living.

What can we do to maintain bone density and improve muscle mass?

C'mon, I bet you can guess! Strength training! If I had a nickel for every time a client told me they fell or had some freak situation happen where they should have been hurt, but weren't then I could retire tomorrow!

If your regimen consists of only walking and cardio then I highly recommend introducing some strength training alongside that.

The way you take care of yourself TODAY has EVERYTHING to do with your quality of life later. So if you're already strength training then keep at it!

 You make the choice.

Be like Jane at 74 Years Young

Jane is 74 years old. She’s retired and she has been training with us faithfully for almost 5 years. If you’ve ever heard me talk about the client that got up on water skis in their 70s - you’re looking at her.

She stopped me the other day to tell me that my post a few days ago about bone density really struck her. Before she started training with us each doctor visit reported a decline in her bone density. This is a HUGE red flag for all y’all who are aging (cough that’s all of us cough) She reported that every annual doctor visit since she started training with us has shown improved bone density. No more decline.

Now you may be thinking who cares about bone density…but let me be the first one to tell you how painful and debilitating a fractured pelvis, broken hip, or shoulder is after a fall. No one plans to fall, but I can tell you that if I had a dollar for every time a client told me about a fall or accident they had where they should have been hurt, but they were not then boy, I could retire tomorrow!

There are so many sneaky benefits to strength training. Feeling better, feeling more confident and fat loss are all great reasons to keep at it, but we are also playing the long game here. 74 is not too old to improve your quality of life.

Age with grace, so you can continue to do the things you love to do and the things you need to do as you mature!

What does a game of twister and strength training have in common

If you have been reading my posts for a while then you know the laundry list of strength training benefits outside of just fat loss and looking better. Those are excellent reasons to make sure you are consistent in a routine, but certainly not the only reasons.

Strength training gives us the confidence to LIVE. To be silly. To try new things. To keep up with kids and grandkids. To travel. To participate in excursions and spontaneous adventures. These are only a few reasons. Shoot me an email if you want more reasons 🙂

I was grateful for my strength just yesterday when my kids challenged me to a game of twister. Not just regular twister, they upped the challenge by jumping on my back. They thought this was hysterical (so did I) but it was cool to be able to make it through 6 spins before my mobility was challenged and therefore collapsed.

Oh speaking of mobility, that is something we work on here at Get Fit NH too. In the first 10 minutes of every session, we work through myofascial release and mobility drills to keep you moving well.m

So, if you're thinking you want to play competitive twister as you age or if you just want to have the confidence to try then make sure you get started on your two week free trial.

Don't worry, we don't bust out the twister mat in the gym. You can practice that on your own time. We will just give you to the tools you need to try 😉
