Thanksgiving Week Schedule and Events

It hardly seems possible, but Thanksgiving is only a couple of weeks away! Just wanted to give an early heads up for that weeks schedule.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday: Full Schedule

Thursday: Fort Mountain Turkey Trot 8:00am

On Thanksgiving Day before enjoying the Turkey we’ll join Danno from the 6:15 crew for a hike up Fort Mountain In Epsom. The walk is beautiful suitable for most people so bring your friends and family. We will meet at Epsom Bible Church parking lot and leave there via car pool to the bottom of the mountain. The crew will be leaving the parking lot at 8:00am so don’t be late. Bring your binoculars. Our kids had a blast last time running the trail with Tom’s dogs. Its fun for the whole family. See you there!

Saturday: The famous “Pies off the Thighs” post-Thanksgiving workout.  9:00am Get Fit NH Bootcamp Concord

It is our Mission to give you the tools you need to eat healthy, train hard, and look and feel great.

Would you do me a personal favor and help me help you by taking less than 5 minutes to take a brief survey so we can meet your needs better?

Jingle Bell Run/Walk 2011

Can you believe it’s that time of year again?

I know it doesn’t seem possible, but we are gearing up for the annual “Jingle Bell Run” to benefit the Arthritis Foundations.

Last year you raised over $1100 to fight this crippling disease, and our goal this year is to have 50 members on our team and top that $1000 mark again.

This truly is one of the most fun events on our calendar, and we always look forward to seeing Mary and Joyce bring the “Jingle Dogs” out for the festivities.

4th Annual PUMPkin Workout

You heard me right! On the spookiest of all days, October 31st, Get Fit NH will be PUMPin some serious vegetable (or is it a fruit?)

No, we will NOT be doing slamball with the pumpkins, but we will have a great training session that proves once again there are absolutely NO excuses for not getting your training in, with or without ghosts, goblins or gremlins.

So here’s the deal – Scour the patch and bring in the best pumpkin you can find for Monday’s training. The bigger the better!

Don’t wanna play?

That’s ok,  we have 50 pounds kettlebells you can use instead!

(And Keith, this year I think you can do better than that)

P.S. From Coach Nancy

Please don’t carve them first. Costumes and scary socks are optional. (You might have to go to Epsom to get the sock comment). You don’t need to know anything besides bring a pumpkin for your training time. Really, I mean it, a pumpkin. They are orange, grow on a vine in someone’s garden.

Having Trouble Sleeping?

Mark the date on your calendar and join us as Dr. Laura Riley Jones discusses the health of the adrenal gland from a Naturopathic perspective.  Stress, nutrient deficiency, and chronic illness are common agents that can tax our adrenal glands, leading to fatigue, weight gain, insomnia, pain, anxiety and depression.

Dr. Jones will discuss how adrenal health affects mood, weight, female hormone balance, the immune system and our sleep/wake cycle.  This seminar will identify the elements most important for optimal adrenal health and examine truly healthy diet, supplements, and lifestyle habits for proper adrenal function and optimal wellness.

This seminar is open to the public, but please register below to let us know you are coming. Thank-you!

Is There A GAP In Your Training?

Reality Check – If you were driving across the country you would not just point the car in a westerly direction and step on the gas. You would look at a map, program your GPS, calculate how many days you were going to spend, driving out, make reservations where you were going to stop for night, and calculate how much the trip would cost.

Your outcome was making it to California in one piece. Your action steps were the planning, preparation and packing. You follow the map, you are going to get where you want to go.

Have you taken 5 minutes and enrolled in our Goal Achievement Program (GAP)?

There is something far more important than a trip to Hollywood at stake.

Saying “I want to lose weight” is far different than writing down a measurable outcome goal and than the steps you are going to achieve that goal. It’s like hopping in the car and having no idea where you are going and how to get there.

There’s a better way!

Here’s an example of  what good planning might look like:

Outcome:

I will lose 5 pounds in the next 4 weeks

Action Steps:

I will attend bootcamp 4 days for the next 4 weeks

I will limit starchy carbs to after training sessions only

I will eat breakfast with protein and veggies every day

There is a destination and a roadmap to follow. And while there might be unexpected construction along the way, we can deal with that when we get there.

At the end of 4 weeks you will then measure the outcome and evaluate if you were committed and completed the action steps. The process then starts over again for the next 4 weeks, using what you learned over the previous month to adjust as necessary.

We have made that super easy for you to accomplish. By enrolling in GAP all you have to do is take 5-10 minutes a month to chart your next 4 weeks out. Then 30 days down the road you will receive a follow up evaluation. Submit that to your coaches, ask for help as needed, and then chart your course for the next 4 weeks.

What are you waiting for?

Hoops for Heroes

Our Sensational Side Dish Winner, Heather Cummings, razzled and dazzled us at the cookout with her prize winning recipe. Heather has another “claim to fame”  – her husband, Dave.

I met Dave for the first time at the cookout. Great guy, family man, someone with a deep passion.

Being from the Epsom community Dean and I had been following Dave in his quest to shoot ONE MILLION Free throws in order to raise money for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. I never knew I would actually meet him and get to know him.

Dave has something in common with the men and women he is honoring – Humility and a deference to others. He would be the first guy to say “Don’t look at me, focus on those who haven given so much”.

Here is what Heather has to say about Dave and his drive to help our military heroes.

“I am so proud of him and what he is doing.  Thank you very much for the offer to share his efforts.  He is not a bootcamper yet (after 11/11, though…), but he IS making it happen! :-)”

Check out what Dave is doing to make a difference and how  you might be able to help too. It’s a really cool website, and Dave’s passion shines through!

What about you?
Coach Nancy

“Every shot made shall serve as a reminder of the reverence
due those who have honored us with their selfless service to this country.
Every dollar raised shall serve to benefit those who now suffer for that sacrifice.
To all Veterans, though it will never be enough, this is our solemn thank you.”
