Memorial Day Training

Mark your calendars for a schedule change and a family training opportunity! On Memorial Day we get together as one big happy family. This year we are combining our Memorial Day family training with   Training for a Cause! Brilliant, right? Memorial Day is about honoring our nations men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom so it just makes sense to take this opportunity to donate to Operation Hat Trick (OHT). For those of you who are not familiar with OHT they are dedicated to American service members as they recover from the visible and invisible wounds of war. They help them move past the traumas of battle so they can focus on their lives and families at home. Donations are appreciated. We especially love that all of the money raised stays in New Hampshire to help our own. So mark your calendar, dig out your red, white and blue and let’s have some fun while doing some good!

When: Monday, May 29, 2017

Training for a Cause X2

Training for a cause is right around the corner and this time we are getting behind TWO great organizations!

On Saturday, October 31, 2015- Yes on Halloween- we will be gathering at Get Fit NH Concord for our quarterly training for a cause event. Our in house events always support an organization called, Operation Hat Trick (OHT).  Operation Hat Trick is near and dear to our hearts here at Get Fit NH as we have coaches, fellow students and family members who have served or are serving in the United States military. OHT is a  NH based veteran’s organization that helps pay for adaptive equipment for amputees; service dogs; critical care; emergency rent, heating oil or car payments. They have built a cabins for veterans’ summer camp, sponsored hunting, fishing and skiing trips and so much more to help injured Veteran’s work through their injuries and rebuild their lives. It is truly an incredible organization and we are honored to stand behind them. To learn more about the OHT mission and story you can click herehatrickhathatrickhat2

The cost of this training for a cause event is $15. When you pay $15 you will get one of two hats- your choice! You can rest easy knowing your hard earned money is supporting great people!

Wondering what the “X2” is all about in training for cause?

At 9:30 we will head over to Rollins Park in Concord for the 4th annual Wicked FIT 5K run/walk! FIT stands for Families In Transition and this is a fantastic organization who help home our local homeless community and give them hope! You can  register here – our team name is Get Fit NH. wickedfitrun-300x171

And more great  news?

BOTH of these events are 100% costume friendly- in fact, they are HIGHLY encouraged! We are looking forward to seeing you on October 31st for a seriously silly Saturday!

We Have a Family Member in Need!

cj2Who remembers Coach CJ? He was one of the Get Fit NH originals and then moved on to further his career with Dr. Brett Coapland at Performance Health. For those of you who have been coached by him you know that this guys knows his stuff! He is super smart and incredibly athletic, which is why his recent medical condition has taken us back quite a bit. To read more on CJ’s current condition or donate please click here

We want to do everything we can to help CJ and his family so here’s the challenge! We are picking only exercises the start the letters C or J (Chins, Chripees,Cross-Countries, Jumping Jacks, Jumping Chins, Jump rope…you get it! We are setting out the challenge board where you can challenge anyone in any training time to an exercise for a given amount of time and if they do it you will donate X amount of dollars. Once they complete their challenge they will cross it off the board and you can add your donation to our envelope. You can also challenge coaches too! I hear Coach Adam loves a challenge to do chirpees for  5 minutes.,,,he told me!

Are we ready to raise some money for our buddy, CJ? We’ll run this challenge through May 8th!

Training for a Cause is coming!

A bunch of you have been asking when our next training for a cause will be and we have the answer right here!

On Saturday February 21st we are going to gather out in Epsom at 9 AM for our annual Winter Wonderland event.  Last year we had a total blast building ginormous snowballs, sledding, and of course pulling our Get Fit NH friends around in their sleds! We have plenty of snow to play with so  have no fear! Come join us and let us show you that we can have just as much fun outside as we can inside!

As mentioned this is our quarterly training for a cause event. Get Fit NH supports Operation Hat Trick (OHT) as our ongoing cause. For those of you who are not familiar with OHT please follow the link below to learn more about them. They are well worth our support. Your consistent generosity does not go unnoticed and we are forever grateful to have such a generous family at Get Fit NH.

We are asking for a $10 donation or the purchase of one our custom Operation Hat Trick baseball hats. The hats are $15 and they are snazzy! 100% of donations will go to OHT!

We look forward to seeing you there. Oh and just to clarify this is and outdoor event so please dress accordingly. Kids, family, and friends are all welcome and encouraged to come play!

See you there!

Something HUGE is coming…

oht It’s true, and you will want to be there!

Mark your calendars:

When: Saturday November 1, 2014
Time: 8 AM – 1PM
Where: Get Fit NH Concord
Who: You, your family, your friends, and some of Concord finest businesses
What: November Family Yard Sale & Fundraiser

This will be our first annual yard sale and vendor fair. We want this event to go down in history so we need your help! Here is what’s in it for you:

Get Fit NH students: Forget spring cleaning! Let’s spare ourselves some time this spring and do some pre-winter cleaning. We are inviting all of you to gather up any items that you would typically sell at a yard sale (ie: clothes, dishes, books, etc) and bring them to Get Fit NH on November 1st and sell away.

We are inviting the entire community to come shop around so if you have things you want taken off your hands we can help! And here is the bonus- You get to KEEP your profit. That’s right- keep it. All we ask is that you invite your friends and family to come check out the big huge yard sale at 287 South Main Street in Concord.

You do however have three choices if you wish to participate in the donation part of this event:

  • You can choose to donate 10% of your yard sale profit to Operation Hat Trick. Operation Hat Trick is a NH based organization dedicated to the support of our wounded warriors. (Read more here: www.operationhattrick.com)
  • If you so choose- any items that are not sold will be donated to our local homeless shelter, Open Hands Resource Center.
  • Or you can keep your profit and bring any unsold items home with you 🙂

All we ask is for you to invite and share the good word.

So what else is in it for you, you ask? GREAT QUESTION!

We have invited some really great local businesses to come hang out with us as this will also be a vendor fair! We invited Amy Troy from Chichester Massage & Bodywork Center, Evolution Rock and Fitness, Runner’s Alley, and several other businesses to come out and talk to you all, so come join us in supporting these local businesses!

open_hands_resource_center_picture_logo_lol.9060906_logoIf you are planning on participating in the yard sale please contact Coach Meagan by October 25th.  If you are interested in donating to Open Hands Resource Center please bring your items to the gym by 1 PM on November 1st. We will be happy to donate them for you 🙂

Open Hands Resource Center mentioned they mostly need clothes, linens, food, and hygiene products. You never seize to amaze us with your generosity.

Thank you for reading and again please help us make this event HUGE!

What Would You Do for $10 and a Great Cause?

alsa_logo

On Friday Jenn Hittle started calling out the Get Fit NH family to do the Ice Bucket Challenge for ALS Awareness, and you guys have responded big time. It’s been fun to see all the creative ways to dump ice and water over someone’s head!

You can read about how the Ice Bucket Challenge started here: http://www.alsa.org/news/archive/ice-bucket-challenge.html and former BC center fielder Pete Frates story here: http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/11163889/mlb-former-boston-college-centerfielder-pete-frates-faces-als

While it’s a good thing to raise awareness, we wanted to use this opportunity to do some good “better”, so here’s what we decided to do.

For every  member of the Get Fit NH family who posts of video of themselves doing the ice bucket challenge on Facebook with the hashtags #GETFITNH and #BEATALS Get Fit NH will donate $10 to the ALS Association. For every tweet and retweet of those videos with those same hashtags we will donate $1, up to a total of $1000. I am thinking it might be a good time to invest in ice!

Alright team, whaddya say? Are you up for the ice bucket challenge? Nothing like having some fun and doing some good all at the same time!

I may be biased, but this is still my favorite one! Coach Nancy takes the Ice Bucket Challenge

Make It Happen!
